Community Garden: 2025 Season upon assignment of a garden plot, Dan McGrath, Wakefield Recreation Director, will meet with gardeners to review rules and expectations. At any point, gardeners can direct questions and concerns to Dan McGrath at dmcgrath@wakefield.ma.us or 781.246.6389. Application process. Managed by Wakefield’s Recreation Department, the garden will feature over 40 4’ x 8’ individual plots in J.J. Round Park on Main Street. The space will include rain barrels, direct water access, compost bins, and an equipment shed. Plot applications will be accepted from a maximum of two adults per household. Submissions must be received by 11:59PM on March 31st.Should applications exceed the number of available plots, Wakefield Recreation will hold a lottery drawing on April 4th. All applicants will be also be notified directly.Applicants must be a resident of Wakefield, leader of a non-profit organization based in Wakefield, or leader of a business operating in Wakefield.A $50 per-plot permit fee will be payable upon notification that one has received a plot assignment. If an individual wishes to request a waiver of the permit fee due to financial concerns, he or she can contact Dan McGrath, Recreation Director, at (781) 246-6389 or by email at dmcgrath@wakefield.ma.us. Garden Rules and Regulations Weather permitting, the garden will formally open on April 15th  Permits are valid from April 15th to October 31st and must be renewed annually The garden is open from 8 a.m. to dusk, 7 days a week Abandoned and overgrown plots will be reassigned Only annuals can be planted; no cannabis can be grown Furniture, including chairs, may not be left at plots The following are prohibited on the premises: Herbicides and pesticides Trespassing on others’ plots On-site sale of produce Individual fencing Smoking and vaping Permit holders are responsible for: Supervising children brought on site Leashing and controlling dogs brought on site Removing litter and debris after each use Clearing plot of all stakes and non-vegetative matter at the end of the season

Managed by Wakefield’s Recreation Department, the garden will feature over 40 4’ x 8’ individual plots in J.J. Round Park on Main Street. The space will include rain barrels, direct water access, compost bins, and an equipment shed. Plot applications will be accepted from a maximum of two adults per household. Submissions must be received by 11:59PM on March 31st.Should applications exceed the number of available plots, Wakefield Recreation will hold a lottery drawing on April 4th. All applicants will be also be notified directly.Applicants must be a resident of Wakefield, leader of a non-profit organization based in Wakefield, or leader of a business operating in Wakefield.A $50 per-plot permit fee will be payable upon notification that one has received a plot assignment. Improv 102: Building RelationshipsThis 6-week course is a continuation of the fundamentals of improvisational comedy. He is a former cast member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage and National Touring Company, and has performed with musical improv groups Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project and the Chicago-based Baby Wants Candy. His comedy and music performances and teaching have taken him across the country, including Chicago, Alaska, Washington DC, Key West, Miami, New York City, and right around Boston. Brian has trained with ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum, iO Chicago, and renowned singer Rhiannon in improvised singing. He’s taught improv and a cappella, and toured for 2 years with the a cappella group Almost Recess, performing over 500 shows and teaching K-12 students about the harmony and history of vocal music.  His commercial acting credits include TV spots for Friendly’s, Meineke, Big Y, Cumberland Farms, Honey Dew, and Wayfair. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Currently, he is the creative director and owner of Big Attitude, bringing fun comedy shows and classes to the North Shore community.

The instructor is Michael Tarascio, a former member of the United States World Championship Team in Men's Foil. Michael is a Level 4 Foil coach certified through the United States Fencing Association and certified through the Positive Coaching Alliance and the American Sports Education Program. He teaches Recreational Classes for Youth, Teens, and Adults. Michael also teaches Advanced Level Technique and Tactics Classes and provides Individual Coaching for the Serious Competitive Fencer. Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Our caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, curriculum and communication.  Soccer Shots Mini (2yo’s) is a high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game.  Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. Soccer Shots Classic Hybrid (3yo’s) utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.  We use a progression for the scrimmages at the end of each session starting with everyone getting a soccer ball. Soccer Shots Classic (4/5yo’s) utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. His comedy and music performances and teaching have taken him across the country, including Chicago, Alaska, Washington DC, Key West, Miami, New York City, and right around Boston. Brian has trained with ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum, iO Chicago, and renowned singer Rhiannon in improvised singing. He’s taught improv and a cappella, and toured for 2 years with the a cappella group Almost Recess, performing over 500 shows and teaching K-12 students about the harmony and history of vocal music.  His commercial acting credits include TV spots for Friendly’s, Meineke, Big Y, Cumberland Farms, Honey Dew, and Wayfair. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Currently, he is the creative director and owner of Big Attitude, bringing fun comedy shows and classes to the North Shore community.

He is a former cast member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage and National Touring Company, and has performed with musical improv groups Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project and the Chicago-based Baby Wants Candy. His comedy and music performances and teaching have taken him across the country, including Chicago, Alaska, Washington DC, Key West, Miami, New York City, and right around Boston. Brian has trained with ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum, iO Chicago, and renowned singer Rhiannon in improvised singing. He’s taught improv and a cappella, and toured for 2 years with the a cappella group Almost Recess, performing over 500 shows and teaching K-12 students about the harmony and history of vocal music.  His commercial acting credits include TV spots for Friendly’s, Meineke, Big Y, Cumberland Farms, Honey Dew, and Wayfair. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Currently, he is the creative director and owner of Big Attitude, bringing fun comedy shows and classes to the North Shore community.

Managed by Wakefield’s Recreation Department, the garden will feature over 40 4’ x 8’ individual plots in J.J. Round Park on Main Street. The space will include rain barrels, direct water access, compost bins, and an equipment shed. Plot applications will be accepted from a maximum of two adults per household. Submissions must be received by 11:59PM on March 31st.Should applications exceed the number of available plots, Wakefield Recreation will hold a lottery drawing on April 4th. Fencers will be fitted for equipment. Fencers will take the equipment home with them.

Improv 102: Building RelationshipsThis 6-week course is a continuation of the fundamentals of improvisational comedy. He is a former cast member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage and National Touring Company, and has performed with musical improv groups Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project and the Chicago-based Baby Wants Candy. His comedy and music performances and teaching have taken him across the country, including Chicago, Alaska, Washington DC, Key West, Miami, New York City, and right around Boston. Brian has trained with ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum, iO Chicago, and renowned singer Rhiannon in improvised singing. He’s taught improv and a cappella, and toured for 2 years with the a cappella group Almost Recess, performing over 500 shows and teaching K-12 students about the harmony and history of vocal music.  His commercial acting credits include TV spots for Friendly’s, Meineke, Big Y, Cumberland Farms, Honey Dew, and Wayfair. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Currently, he is the creative director and owner of Big Attitude, bringing fun comedy shows and classes to the North Shore community.
