Improv 102: Building Relationships
This 6-week course is a continuation of the fundamentals of improvisational comedy. Through active listening and responding, agreeing to play, and ultimately establishing characters’ relationships, students will explore the fun of using relationships to create more satisfying and funny scenes.
 
Good for beginners or those with some experience, classes will focus on:
  • Types of relationships, hierarchies, statuses
  • Focusing on listening intently, reacting, and agreeing to play.
 
As well as reinforcing the basics of improv:
  • The “Yes, and" principle, and “if this is true, what else is true”
  • Making bold choices
  • Staying committed throughout the scene
  • Enhancing acting skill with emotions and physicality

If classes need to be postponed due to illness, we'll make every effort to reschedule or offer a makeup.
 
Optional Improv Jam

A fun, casual night of improv games, open to students and the public
 
Final Performance:
Sunday, July 13, 6:00pm
Students will perform a 15-minute set as part of the Big Attitude Improv Jam, led by your instructor.

About your instructor:
Brian Agosta is a producer, comedian, improviser, singer, and digital designer living in Wakefield, MA. He is a former cast member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage and National Touring Company, and has performed with musical improv groups Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project and the Chicago-based Baby Wants Candy. His comedy and music performances and teaching have taken him across the country, including Chicago, Alaska, Washington DC, Key West, Miami, New York City, and right around Boston.
 
Brian has trained with ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum, iO Chicago, and renowned singer Rhiannon in improvised singing. He’s taught improv and a cappella, and toured for 2 years with the a cappella group Almost Recess, performing over 500 shows and teaching K-12 students about the harmony and history of vocal music.
 
His commercial acting credits include TV spots for Friendly’s, Meineke, Big Y, Cumberland Farms, Honey Dew, and Wayfair. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
 
Currently, he is the creative director and owner of Big Attitude, bringing fun comedy shows and classes to the North Shore community.
